Wheel Tax

Full time military personnel are exempt from the Sumner County Wheel Tax on one vehicle per year. You will need to provide an LES (Leave and Earning Statement) showing that Sumner County, Tennessee is your home of record or state of domicile. <More Information>
 
Emissions Test
If the vehicle is located inside the State of Tennessee, it must first be tested for emissions before we can renew the registration. <Requirement to Test> <Emission Information>
 
Vehicles located outside Tennessee can be exempted from the emissions test requirement after an application is filed with the Division of Air Pollution Control.<Instructions and Application>
The renewal fee for a regular passenger vehicle exempt from the Sumner County Wheel Tax is $24.00 plus postage.
